Joey With The Mustache is a fan-favorite disco and house DJ that is known for — you guessed it — his signature mustache. As Joey preps for NYC Pride’s return of FRUITSNAX, we caught up with the handsome music maker and got the scoop on the nation’s capital edition of Horse Meat Disco, his style, and all the deets on his upcoming party.

So.Gay: What was it like playing Horse Meat Disco DC this spring?
I lived in DC from 2013-2016, and one of my first gay parties out ever was a Horse Meat Disco DC in 2014, so getting to share the stage with them is such an honor aIt’s playing some of my favorite groovy music in front of over a thousand (mostly shirtless) very hot people.
So.Gay: What’s your favorite thing about DC gay culture vs NYC gay culture?
Lots of DC gays have jobs that focus on research and public service, and I think that creates a really special culture of giving back in the community. New York gays give back too, but where else can you get spit roasted by a non-profit CEO and the head of some vaccine project in Tanzania?
So.Gay: What’s your must-play song every set?
I really don’t want to give this secret away, but: “Keep Moving” by Jungle (Blessed Madonna Remix) is such a sultry slay. I’d have that bassline’s kids if I wasn’t a top.
So.Gay: How did the mustache become your signature?
I think people just sort of started calling me that in the late 2010s and it caught on, so it’s just sort of stuck. People ask me all the time “what happens if you ever shave it?!” And I say, “I did one time and raised $1,500 for charity.” So, now we know.
So.Gay: What’re you looking forward to most this summer?
I’m DJing on the beach stage at Pines Party for the first time this year! It’s so crazy to think that 8 years after my first overnight in the Pines at Pines Party 2018 I’d be on stage! Wild.
So.Gay: Where else can we find you DJ’ing in 2026?
You’ll find me in NYC and Fire Island Pines a bunch, but I’ll also be heading to Europe and Australia for some shows that I’m really excited about.
