Overview:
Located on the main drag of Union Avenue in central Williamsburg, Macri Park is surprisingly easy to miss – despite its prime location. It’s a true watering hole: divey and doesn’t look like it’s been touched or updated in years (besides the surprisingly nicely-tiled main floor bathroom that appears in countless gays’ selfies).
Macri Park has lots of seating, including a fantastic long bench with stools along the main wall. There are countless televisions playing music videos and visuals.
There’s a backyard, but not one that you want to hang out in – it’s probably one of the few outdoor bar spaces in New York that aren’t flocked to – it’s concrete, and forgettable.
You should go to Macri Park if you don’t care about aesthetics, want a cheap and strong drink while catching up with friends, and don’t want to pay a cover at Metro, Macri Park’s sister bar.
