Everyone’s favorite “devout Christian, Caucasian, heterosexual woman” was brought on stage during “Vogue” on Madonna’s Celebration tour—and no, we’re not talking about America’s sweetheart, Kelly Ripa (though she did join Madonna on stage at Madison Square Garden in New York City). Viral TikTok star and internet obsession Terri Joe teamed up with Madonna to help her judge the “Vogue” ballroom portion of the concert in Los Angeles.
Despite being a preacher’s daughter, Terri Joe looked cool, calm, and collected as she guest judged the competition, most likely because she was feeling supported by the Bible that she was holding. But her Bible wasn’t enough to protect her from the hellish heat she must have felt as she participated in a very historically LGBTQ+ cultural institution. Terri Joe fanned herself with her “Chop” and “10” scorecards as she judged the very sexy ballroom stars.
But if anyone can get someone to convert, it’s Madonna. And Terri Joe may be too Christian for pronouns, but she wasn’t too Christian to get whipped by a dancer at one point. Donning her classic millennial floral dress, she casually bent over and accepted the scolding. Here’s hoping no one from her church sees the video!
And if you don’t know who Terri Joe is, what’s wrong with you!? She’s the invention of 28-year-old Kelon Campbell, aka Psyiconic. Terri Joe is, of course, a satirical character. Her main traits are being Christian, Southern, and homophobic—all of which Campbell conveys with a huge wink to the audience. Some of the best moments are when Campbell breaks character and leans out of frame to let out audible laughter. (This happened when Terri Joe was in conversation with fellow internet troll, Ziwe.)
Terri Joe shows up on TikTok live streams all the time, with some pretty famous guests including Doja Cat, Hunter Schafer, and Madonna. In fact, Madge appeared to be doing poppers when she joined Terri Joe for a live stream, which, if you’re ever going to do poppers on a TikTok live stream, let it be with Terri Joe!
The (alleged) poppers must have opened Madonna’s third eye enough to really connect with Terri Joe and eventually invite her on stage to be the guest judge during “Vogue”. Madonna has had a bunch of super fun guest judges throughout her Celebration tour including Julia Fox, Kelly Ripa, Diplo, Donatella Versace, and more. It’s a real who’s who up there! But what else would you expect?
