In 2022 the documentary “Fire of Love” about volcanologists Katia and Maurice Krafft shook the earth beneath viewers as the sparks of their romance and the volcanoes they studied collide on film.
Hanchen Xu, the creative mind behind the XÜXÜ fashion brand, is the latest to pull inspiration from their story in their latest collection. This 23-piece collection of gender-neutral clothes ”Like the ever-changing landscape of the active volcanoes, the collection used a wide range of materials and fabric design to pay homage to the volcanology research by the Kraffts.”
Take the Etna Shirt in Lava for example. A piece seemingly inspired by heat resistant gear the Kraffts wore is now an effortlessly chic, yet bold piece of fashion with it’s crackling orange lining. The Silver Ant Suit Jacket in Obsidian by contrast takes more inspiration from nature itself using dark earthtones for an oversized yet elegant look. And then, there’s the pants. The Vulcan Trousers feel the most scientific in their careful balance of high fashion, and comfortable fit with the drawstring.
The talent is flowing out of Xu in this latest collection, and the photos are sure to shake you to your molten core. Check out photos from the latest XÜXÜ collection below.
