‘Drag Me to Church’ Returns: Gospel Drag Show Celebrates Pride, Supports Food Ministry
Calvary Episcopal Church invites all to celebrate the end of Pride Month with the third annual Drag Me to Church: A Gospel Drag Show. Following the success of its first two years, the event has nearly raised $20,000 and gathered hundreds of food item donations to support Calvary’s food ministry, which feeds hundreds of people each week.
This year’s Drag Me to Church will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., with a reception beginning at 6:00 p.m. The show is free and open to the public. Donations are encouraged – both food and monetary – and directly benefit Calvary’s weekday food ministry, which serves individuals on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Located at 821 S. 4th Street in downtown Louisville, Calvary Episcopal Church believes every person is a beloved child of God. That belief inspires the church’s continued commitment to inclusivity and unconditional love, as promised in our Baptismal Covenant. Hosting a drag show is a reflection of this mission, and an act of joyful solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community.
“As a parishioner, Drag Me to Church is one of the most meaningful events of the year for me,” said JC Phelps. “It’s a celebration of love, inclusion, and community that reflects what Calvary stands for. During Pride Month, especially, it’s powerful to witness a church so boldly affirm that God’s love knows no bounds. Events like this remind us that everyone – no matter who they are or who they love – is worthy of dignity, welcome, and joy.”
The event will once again be hosted by Louisville drag legend Cadillac Seville and will feature performances from a diverse lineup of talented drag artists. Calvary’s clergy, parishioners, and community partners are excited to welcome returning and new guests for a night of celebration, community, and giving.
