This weekend, you don’t have to ask for a free ride. Espolòn has it covered.
In an innovative marketing move, tequila brand Espolòn has instituted a new program promising to cover the cost for half of their customers’ night-out rideshare. “When the night peaks, your fare shouldn’t,” says Espolòn’s website.
The promotion lasts until November 1st, and covers Uber and Lyft rides from 9pm to 2pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. This may seem too good to be true for anyone looking to save money during their Halloween plans. But unlike one of this year’s most surefire costumes, Espolòn makes their rebate process quite simple. “Ride, snap [a picture of your receipt], get covered,” the brand says. Once the receipt is confirmed by the brand, customers will get their reimbursement through Venmo or PayPal.
The company’s main goal with this program is to aid customers who they feel have been wrongfully subject to rideshare surge pricing. Costs for a nighttime rideshare can surge exponentially, especially in major cities and during holidays. Espolòn seems to bet that this program will inspire consumer goodwill and brand loyalty. While that impact remains to be seen, the brand is clearly taking clues from Stella Artois and Budweiser’s similar free product-focused promotions from earlier this year.
If promotions like this prove themselves as a powerful tool for customer retainment, brands and customers alike could serve to benefit. If you’re planning on going out on the town this Halloween, get it covered by Espolòn. And maybe, if you’re feeling nasty, use the money you saved for a shot of reposado at the bar.
