The Live Out Loud 25th Anniversary Young Trailblazers Gala is happening on May 18th at The Lighthouse, Pier 61 in New York City. This important event will connect over 400 donors, corporate supporters, elected officials, and youth scholarship winners to celebrate this quarter-century milestone together.

Live Out Loud understands that the next generation has bright leaders ready to take on today’s toughest challenges. Many of these students would benefit from financial support in pursuing future education opportunities. At the Gala, the inclusive nonprofit is awarding $5,000 scholarships to exceptional high school seniors “whose courage and leadership are shaping a brighter, more inclusive future.”

Learn About Live Out Loud

Live Out Loud is dedicated to keeping LGBTQ+ youth in schools, supporting them through graduation, and motivating them to pursue college or careers. They hope to instill crucial confidence in the lives of young queer people, encouraging everyone to live proudly and out loud.

The nonprofit has a variety of programs that offer resources to young people. These include bringing inspiring queer guest speakers into classrooms and schools, providing mentorship, and offering educational directives that build awareness for the LGBTQ+ community’s needs.

The altruistic organization was founded by Leo Preziosi Jr. He was driven to action after learning of two students who died by suicide after immense isolation, bullying, and fear. Preziosi gathered the diverse community and formed this organization to continue important conversations that can and do save lives.

Live Out Loud has speakers visiting schools all around the country. They work in tandem with spiritual leaders, fashion designers, actors, activists, and many more queer people who genuinely want to connect with our impressionable youth.

Tenth grade teacher Deena Soni shared a testimonial of how the organization helped change her school for the better. “Without Live Out Loud, our school would not be such a pillar of acceptance where visibility, diversity, individuality, and identity are consistently celebrated.”

Get Your Gala On

Live Out Loud connects different generations of the queer community. Attending this Gala is a great way to give back to an organization that has already done so much and will continue to do more.

Interested in attending the Gala yourself? Tickets are available on Live Out Loud’s website, ranging in tiers from Presenting Sponsor to standard entry. All donations will go towards funding the event and supporting Live Out Loud’s mission. Another generous option offered is to purchase a ticket for a teacher to attend the Live Out Loud Gala.

Being a queer adult means you know what it was like to be a queer child. If more people had had a resource like this in school, perhaps there wouldn’t be such a need for this representation today. Consider reaching out to volunteer with Live Out Loud if you’re interested in inspiring the next generation of LGBTQ+ youth. Get involved by either volunteering or donating here.
