The Goodtime Hotel Is South Beach’s Best New Chic, Comfortable, & Affordable Stay

If you know me, you know that Miami is my favorite destination, and whether it’s for work or travel, I never need an excuse to go down. I’ve heard of The Goodtime Hotel for several years, walked by it and admired the brand new building, but had never stepped foot inside — so when the opportunity arose to check into the relatively new hotel — I jumped at the chance. Honestly, it’s one of the few affordable and nice options left on Miami Beach.

Let’s talk about the numerous positives for the new-ish hotel:

  • The property is beautiful, and is reminiscent of a high-end hotel with a mix of tropical and art deco themes.
  • The room I was placed in (602) was quite spacious, the bed was comfy, and had a great amount of space.
  • The food was surprisingly good at the restaurant, Strawberry Moon, and the pool bar, and well-priced, which for Miami is a shock!
  • The pool (or technically 2 pools, rather) is gigantic. Seating can be tough (we’ll get to that later) but it’s a large pool that rivals even the most expensive hotels in Miami.
  • The location can’t be beat — it’s a few blocks from the beach, a 10 minute walk from gay Mecca Twist, across the block from ultra-chic restaurant Queen and within blocks from basically anything you could ever want.
  • And most importantly: the price is what really seals the deal for The Goodtime Hotel — in a city where now anything “new” constitutes a minimum $500/night price point, and anything “fancy” commands a $1K+/night starting cost, The Goodtime Hotel is a refreshing option for something nice and new and affordable – which is exceedingly rare.

Now for additional things to know before you book your trip:

  • Some of the rooms can be small – this shouldn’t be a surprise if you pay attention when you book. Some people may be surprised, but you get what you pay for — any who spends their time in their room in Miami, anyway? Even if a room is tight, it’ll still be nice and high quality — which gets a thumbs up in our book.
  • The pool can be complicated, especially on Fridays and weekends — spaces and tables and cabanas and loungers are reserved for people paying additional fees. Hotel guests always get access, but this is definitely a party pool. If you want a quiet, relaxing pool — book a stay at the Ritz.
  • There are rumors of management changes / hotel potentially closing at the end of May 2026, but to our eyes, the hotel is bumping, packed, and doing well.

All in all though? I’d gladly book a stay at The Goodtime Hotel again. It’s clean, comfortable, fun, easy to access — and most importantly, affordable. We stayed in April and every room was below $250/night.

If you go to The Goodtime Hotel, tell them So.Gay sent you!
