Chris Olsen has become a big name on TikTok and beyond. The viral digital content creator gained notoriety in 2020 for his hilarious TikToks showcasing his everyday life and giving fans a sneak peek into his relationship with now ex-boyfriend (and social media star in his own right) Ian Paget.
Olsen and Paget became fixtures of viral TikTok until they ended their two-year relationship in 2022, which left fans heartbroken. They each made their own statements about the end of their relationship, with Olsen saying, “I’ll always have so much love for Ian. We’ve been through an incredible amount together, and we’ll always be connected in a beautiful way. While we’re going to take some time apart and grow as individuals—this isn’t the end of our time together, but a shift. I can’t wait to keep cheering him on.”
Since then, Olsen has made big strides both professionally and personally. His TikTok following has grown to over 12 million, he’s made the jump to television in The Book of Queer on Discovery+, he’s become best friends with singer Meghan Trainor, and he’s even got a new boyfriend. Read on for everything you need to know about social media influencer, Chris Olsen.
Who is Chris Olsen?
Olsen was born on December 22, 1997 and grew up in Washington, D.C. Olsen is 5-feet, 8-inches, “which is average height for men,” he cheekily said in a TikTok. He’s a classically trained actor and singer, having gotten his BFA in Musical Theater from Boston Conservatory.
He’s known for his love of coffee, which he’s segued into a business: Flight Fuel. He’s also super passionate about fitness, as can be determined by his impressive physique. And while we’re on the subject, the closest thing to nude or naked photos fans will get are the shirtless pictures Olsen posts on his Instagram. (An underwear moment never hurt anyone, either.)
After skyrocketing to fame on TikTok in 2020, Olsen was named People’s Sexiest Guy on TikTok, and in 2021, he was named one of E!’s New Faces of Pride, and was nominated as TikTok and GLAAD’s first-ever Queer Advocate of the Year award.
Olsen is known for his humorous and sometimes self-deprecating TikTok content. A shining example is how open Olsen is about the fact that he’s had chlamydia three times, and has made several TikToks on the subject to the point of strangers asking him on the street if he’s “the chlamydia guy.”
Chris Olsen and Meghan Trainor
Beginning around April of 2022, Olsen and singer Meghan Trainor started making a lot of content together, and fans were both thrilled and a little confused as to how the pair connected in the first place.
Olsen appeared on Trainor’s podcast in April 2022. But before that, Olsen said that one night he randomly posted about Trainor on his Instagram Story saying, “Thinking about Meghan Trainor.” Trainor saw this and was flattered. The two started texting, and then Olsen did her podcast and the rest is history!
In a red carpet interview at the 2022 AMAs, Trainor shares that on one of their early hangouts, Olsen “did like eight TikToks in my face, and I was like, ‘We should do this more, we would crush.’ And now, we do TikToks all the time.”
The dynamic duo’s friendship continues to go strong, with Olsen being credited as “icon and bestie” in Trainor’s music video for “Mother.”
Chris Olsen’s Personal Life
Olsen is gay. He dated content creator, Ian Paget, for two years from 2020 to 2022. Fans were devastated by the couple’s breakup. In Olsen’s TikTok announcement of the split, upset fans left comments like, “I’m early to a party I don’t wanna be at,” and, “No my heart can’t handle this.”
In August 2023, Olsen revealed he had a new boyfriend in a TikTok where he used a “Reasons to Date Me” filter. But given his past public romance with Paget, Olsen is trying to be a little more discreet about his next relationship.
He confirmed the relationship and explained his choice to be cryptic on Trainor’s podcast. Trainor remarked, “There is a skinny, fit, gorgeous elephant in the room,” to which Olsen replied, “My boyfriend’s here! He’s in the room.”
Olsen then went on to explain his choice to keep his boyfriend off camera. “I’m not doing it because I’m like, ‘Oh, figure it out.’ It’s because, if we all remember how I started on social media, we can’t do that. We can’t be doing that again.”
